Update 11:22 a.m. PT: Apple has pulled the update from its Developer Center and users are no longer able to download iOS 8.0.1 as an over-the-air update.
Original post: Apple released the first iOS 8 update Wednesday, but you shouldn't download it just yet.

The update, iOS 8.0.1, has apparently caused major problems for many users who report the update has interfered with their cell signal and created problems with Apple's Touch ID.
No sooner had Apple released the update, than users began reporting the update destroyed their cell service and ability to use Touch ID. Mashable confirmed these issues after installing the 8.0.1 update on an iPhone 6Plus, which killed its cell service and rendered Touch ID completely unusable.

According to Apple's release notes, the update included a fix for a HealthKit bug, which unexpectedly delayed the launch of HealthKit-compatible apps and a number of other "bug fixes."
The update doesn't appear to be negatively affecting iPads, which aren't equipped with Touch ID, though iPad owners may want to steer clear of the update for now, just in case.
