Backup Your Firefox Data and Settings


                                                           

Firefox stores all your user data, cookies, site preferences, custom settings, bookmarks, history, and extensions in a profile folder, which makes it easy to backup and restore your settings. Here are the instructions on how to locate the profile folder for the different versions of Firefox. 



How To Locate the Firefox Profile Folder

The Quick Method

Open Firefox, click on the Menu key > Help menu (?) > Troubleshooting information:
Go to Application Basics > Profile Folder and then click on Show Folder:

The Manual Method

In Windows

The first step is to enable the display of hidden files, go to Folder Options > View Show hidden files, folders or drives

Locate and backup the following folders: 
Windows XPC:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles 
Windows VistaC:\users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Profiles
Windows 8, 8.1, 10C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

N.B. In Vista, you’ll need to take ownership of the profile folder to view its content. Right-click on the Profile folder > Properties > Security tab and click on the Advanced button. Click on theChange button displayed next to Owner, enter your username in the Enter the object name to select field and then click on Check names

In Linux

/home/Username/.mozilla/firefox/ 

In Mac OS X

~/Library/Mozilla/ 
~/Library/Application Support
