Firefox stores all your user data, cookies, site preferences, custom settings, bookmarks, history, and extensions in a profile folder, which makes it easy to backup and restore your settings. Here are the instructions on how to locate the profile folder for the different versions of Firefox.

In Windows
The first step is to enable the display of hidden files, go to Folder Options > View > Show hidden files, folders or drives.Locate and backup the following folders:
- Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles
- Windows Vista: C:\users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Profiles.
- Windows 8, 8.1, 10: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles.
N.B. In Vista, you’ll need to take ownership of the profile folder to view its content. Right-click on the Profile folder > Properties > Security tab and click on the Advanced button. Click on theChange button displayed next to Owner, enter your username in the Enter the object name to select field and then click on Check names.
