Galaxy S23 Intro
Samsung launched the Galaxy S23 series in early 2023 and it arrived with a bang. While it can be said that we didn't see major new developments or innovations, the S23 builds on, fleshes out, and adds meaningful upgrades to an already excellent series of phones. And we got some extra treats to enjoy.
Like the removal of aftermarket confusion — we no longer get "Exynos models". Both the US- and EU-bound Galaxy S23 variants come with one type of processor. There's no more "Exynos" variant — all of them are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The cherry on top is that it's a special edition of that chip — one made, overclocked, and tuned specifically for Galaxy phones. It offers a bit more punch than the standard Snapdraogn 8 Gen 2, which is already pretty powerful.
Then, there's the typical camera improvements and slight facelift to keep the series feeling fresh. So, is the newest Galaxy S23 (base model) worth it? Let's dive in!
The one thing to look out for in the Galaxy S23, and we will tell you this right off the bat, is the storage options! The Galaxy S23 128 GB tier has a UFS 3.1 chip, while any other phone in the range comes with UFS 4.0 and LPDDR5X. If you are after the compact S23, we do recommend you get the 256 GB version (thankfully, it's now a free upgrade during the pre-order period)!
