Go to Applications > Terminal and run thedefaults write com.apple.finder CreateDesktop falsecommand.
Next, use the
killall Findercommand to restart the Finder. Close the terminal and head back your desktop.

To get the desktop icons back, open a Terminal and run thedefaults write com.apple.finder CreateDesktop truecommand, followed by
killall Finder.
