Apple Releases iOS 9 for iPhone and iPad

While it will look and feel much like iOS 8, there are a few notable features that, Apple says, will make iOS 9 a more efficient experience.

The operating system was made available after 1 p.m. ET.
One of the efficiency-based features is the Low Power mode, which dims the screen and disables background. Officials say the new mode could give users up to three more hours of life before a recharge.

Siri has also developed more predictive qualities, suggesting popular contacts and actions.
A new font, keyboard, app switcher, and notification center are some of the visual changes to the OS.
The update will allow iPad users to open two apps at once, either in 50/50 or 70/30 format.
Apple News, a new default program, promises to provide personalized content by allowing the user to select only the news sources they want to see.
Notes has seen a big upgrade, allowing users to draw, make checklists, and add photos to their files.
The new update is the first to come with 3D Touch--the new pressure-sensitive addition to the new iPhone and iPad models.

WatchOS2, the second OS update for the Apple Watch, was scheduled to be released Wednesday, but was delayed after officials discovered a bug.
